Kent, Sonny and I are in the last leg of our Mexico trip and are staying at a luxurious hotel in Talequepaque, which I think is considered suburban Guadalajara. It's a pretty ritzy neighborhood and we had a real nice dinner last night at a place called Rosa Morada.
The hotel has laptops we can use and cable TV; we're getting CNN and VH1. This is why I'm surfing the web and not just checking my bank balance. It's been good not to be aware of what's going on in the world or being a blog junkie.
The trip has been really cool and the Mexican folk are very nice. We've only had one bad experience with a taxi driver yesterday trying to inflate the cab fare.
Yelapa so far has been most enjoyable. It was so peaceful and so quiet and there weren't many tourists. Plus, I got to swim a lot in the ocean and go parasailing. Kent sent a picture of the view from our balcony in Yelapa to coworkers and made them jealous :) Old Guadalajara was beautiful. Puerto Vallarta was too touristy. I can imagine it being like Disneyland/Disneyworld in Florida. Plus, we saw Walmart.
We're hoping to shop around for trinkets today in Tonala and Tlaquepaque.
The vacation has been great and aside from some sunburnt shoulders (yes -- happened to an Indian also!) and mangling the Spanish language (Pardon) it's been a very successful trip.
We return to the U.S. tomorrow. Hasta luega!
